“Karma” (Korean: 악연) is a South Korean crime thriller series that premiered on Netflix on April 4, 2025. Based on Choi Hee-seon’s Kakao webtoon of the same name, the series is written and directed by Lee Il-hyung and consists of six episodes. 

 

The narrative delves into the intertwined lives of six individuals whose fates become entangled following a fateful accident. As they navigate their complex relationships, each character confronts their own dark truths and desires. 

 

The ensemble cast features Park Hae-soo, Shin Min-a, Lee Hee-joon, Kim Sung-kyun, Lee Kwang-soo, and Gong Seung-yeon. Park Hae-soo portrays Ahn Kyeok-nam, who becomes involved in an irreversible deal after witnessing a mysterious accident. Shin Min-a plays Joo-yeon, a doctor haunted by a traumatic childhood event. Lee Hee-joon takes on the role of a debt-ridden man entangled in financial woes due to failed cryptocurrency investments. Kim Sung-kyun depicts Gil-ryong, who faces misfortune after an unjust job loss. Lee Kwang-soo portrays An Kyung-nam, a successful doctor whose life takes a tragic turn, and Gong Seung-yeon plays Yoo-jeong, Kyung-nam’s girlfriend who triggers a series of catastrophic events. 

 

Upon its release, “Karma” received positive reviews for its intense plot and compelling character dynamics. The series quickly gained popularity, ranking second on Netflix Korea shortly after its debut.
